The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History

An astonishingly deep educational nonprofit: excellent lesson plans for a variety of ages with accompanying PDFs and references to relevant Common Core standards. There’s also an extensive AP African American Studies Guide, an AP US History Study Guide, AP Summer Prep courses, and much more. They offer summer seminars for teachers as well as an affordable Master’s Degree in American History. Their site also includes primary documents, and many essays about underrepresented people’s contributions to American history. Essays are written by academics and are supported with references.

The American Numismatic Association

The American Numismatic Association’s money.org website is extensive, offering information about numismatics, articles, and so much more. It also has extensive, detailed, and very approachable lesson plans covering the time periods of coins in their collection. This means that there are lessons on the Silk Road Coinage, on World War 1, Black History and Women’s History, the History of Money, and even a lesson entitled Approachable and thorough, the ANA’s educational offerings are undergirded by their extensive coin collection, which features in the lesson plans so that learners can virtually visit their museum.
